
Composers Competition 2020

The Ebor Singers are looking for a new piece for vocal ensemble to be performed as part of their silver 2019/2020 season.
The judges will be announced soon.
The composer of the winning entry will receive £500 in prize money. The work will be performed in concert in the Chapter House of York Minster in October 2020. The winning composer will be appointed as composer-in-residence and receive further commissions over the 2020-21 season, working with the choir, its consort and scholars.
This competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over. Although the choir is keen to work closely with the winner over the course of the 2020-21 season, entrants may be from anywhere else in the world. There is no entrance fee.
Specifications:
- Duration: between 3 and 6 minutes
- Scoring: no more than five vocal parts (SSATB) a cappella
- Text: entrants are free to choose their own text, sacred or secular, but should respond in some way to the theme of our planet and climate change.

The winning piece and shortlisted pieces will be announced on 21 September 2020.
